The 58th Filmfare awards 2012 -13 akin to the Oscars have announced their nominations in various categories. In this small write up I try and analyse the likely winners of various categories and my reasons for doing so.....
Best Film: This should definitely be a fight between Barfi, Kahaani, and Vicky Donor. If we see the overall visual impact of the film, Barfi emerges as a clear winner followed by Vicky Donor.
Best Director: If we are giving Barfi the best film naturally the Best Director should go to Anurag Basu, but Shoojit Sircar has done commendable work for Vicky Donor.
Best Actor in a leading Role - Male: It's a very close call between Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Hrithik Roshan in Agneepath.....but maybe if it's not a tie, then Shah Rukh has the edge in JTHJ, apart from other things for re igniting the romantic flame which had almost died down in his own acting career. This film marks the re advent of Shah Rukh into the hit brigade of the 100 crores club....Ranbir Kapoor in Barfi is equally good in his breezy role as Barfi.....
Best Actor in a leading Role - Female: Needless to say Priyanka Chopra steals the show in Barfi and deservedly should be the top contender for this award. Vidya Balan in Kahaani and Sri Devi in English Vinglish also acted well
Best Actor in a supporting Role - Male: Akshay Kumar stands out in his role in Oh My God ....Rishi Kapoor gives him a tough fight in Agneepath but if its a toss then its Akki all the way.
Best Actor in a supporting Role - Female: Anushka Sharma in JTHJ and Ileana D'Cruz in Barfi, both were outstanding in their respective roles, and this award deserves a tie, but if its a toss I would prefer Anushka for her vivacious role in JTHJ....
Best Music Director: My choice would be Pritam, whether he gets it for Cocktail or Barfi remains to be seen.
Best Lyrics: My choice would be Gulzar for Saans in JTHJ - even Challa would be a good choice for the same film. Both are by Gulzar.
Best Playback (Male): Ayushmann Khurrana has sung well in Vicky Donor - Paani da rang and so has Nikhil Paul George in Barfi - Main kya karoon...Khurrana has done justice to this song and would be my choice
Best Playback (Female): Kavita Seth in Cocktail for Tumho ho bandhu and Shreya Ghoshal in JTHJ for Saans....If not a tie then definitely Shreya Ghoshal for Saans....
That's my choice...what is yours? ....Looking forward to the actual award nite - Cheers!
